Join R&D projects on defence capability technologies

The European Defence Agency’s Capability Technologies (“CapTech”) working groups identify research and technology projects in response to agreed defence capability needs, which can be supported with national funding.

Do you want to work on defence capability technologies?

The European Defence Agency’s CapTech working groups are in charge of identifying research and technology projects that will contribute to overcoming technology gaps identified within European defence research priorities considering future defence capability needs and emerging technologies. 

Ad-hoc projects and studies on commonly agreed priorities can be supported with national funding. Luxembourg companies and research organisations validated by the Luxembourg Directorate of Defence can participate in the meeting and contribute to the collaborative R&D projects.

Who can benefit?

Luxembourg companies of all sizes whose stakeholders are from the EU or NATO member states and research organisations with a proven track record in R&D activities are eligible to join the CapTech working groups. Luxembourg companies whose shareholders are not from the EU (but still located in NATO member states or associated countries) need to provide evidence that their EU headquarters are located in Luxembourg. The application process is structured as follows:

  • Presentation of a business plan and substance in Luxembourg, as well as a demonstration of the alignment with the targeted CapTech
  • Validation by the LU-DoD of the applicant as a “CapTech non-governmental expert”
  • Approved applicants gain access to the European Defence Agency platform and the CapTech working group by registering via the CapTech moderator who will issue invitations to meetings held every four months
